Biography
Philip Carey was an American actor whose career spanned half a century. His square-jawed good looks earned him many roles in Westerns and war films when his career began in the 1950s, starring in the adventures series "Tales of the 77th Bengal Lancers." He had the title role in the detective show "Philip Marlowe" and in the mid-'60s spent three seasons in the lighthearted Western "Laredo." Playing off his rugged all-American look, Carey famously appeared as Archie Bunker's gay friend in a groundbreaking 1971 episode of "All in the Family." The latter part of his career featured a recurring role on the soap "One Life to Live."
